I miss this intro theme; I cannot believe they changed this😢 just not the same anymore. Disappointed in the movies they show as they are not at the same level like they were as it relates to the plot, stars, and entertainment value. Dr Stewart is very knowledgeable as it relates to history, techniques, and the industry itself; but someone (if not her) is really missing the mark when it comes to the entertainment value as they are not understanding their larger audience and seem to focus too much on the educational/ institutiinal artistic value vs real entertainment. This theme song added to the entertainment part of the Silent Sunday Night experience as anyone who heard this song stopped and starred when it came on or the ad promo was played; you knew the brand and those of us who love the silent got excited when we heard this song as we knew it was our silents coming on. If TCM would even care to listen to its true silent fans I would suggest go back to this theme song, stop with the classroom educational/ artistic theme focus for the films shown; go back to what true entertainment value is which are great films, with famous stars and directors with a great plot like Son of Sheik, or a Gilbert Rowland and Norma Talmadge like the Disputed Woman, or J. BARRYMORE in The Temptress, or Lady of the Pavements, etc. Stay away from boring films that all anyone watching is studying filming techniques vs enjoying watching the story or plot.

love me some nic ray. even Savage Innocents blew my socks off. And glad to get a Sam Fuller story in there too. Plenty of good outsider cinema to enjoy between Ray, Fuller, Jarmusch.

I absolutely loved this! It's always difficult to put into words why you admire a piece of art. These folks obviously are passionate about silent films and have expressed their reasons so powerfully and elegantly! May more of these precious works be found and preserved!

Good movie, except for the animated movements & obvious 'reading of the script' technique of so-called "John Wayne, which wasn't even his real name. He sold-out his birth name of Marion Robert Morrison to Hollywood deceit, greed, & personal anticipation of greater recognition. Also another example of blatant disrespect for family heritage. So-called "Laraine Day" also sold-out her birth name of La Raine Johnson. So-called "Claire Trevor" sold-out her birth name of Claire Wemlinger. So-called "Jan Sterling" sold-out her birth name of Jane Sterling Adriance. So-called "David Brian" sold-out his birth name of Brian James Davis. So-called "John Smith" sold-out his birth name of Robert Errol Van Orden. So-called "Julie Bishop" sold-out her birth name of Jacqueline Brown. So-called 'John Howard" sold-out his birth name of John Richard Cox, Jr. So-called "John "Qualen" sold-out his birth name of Johan Mandt Kvalen. So-called "Doe Avedon" sold-out her birth name of Dorcas Marie Nowell. So-called "Patrick Wayne" followed in his father's footsteps and sold-out his birth name of Patrick John Morrison. Phil Harris, on the other hand, wasn't ashamed of his Father. He DIDN'T sell-out his birthname to the shallowness of Hollywood. He also was a good actor & had a great reassuring voice.

If i'm not mistaken, there's a clip missing (or was taken out). When TCM first ran this years ago, near the end of the film they showed a clip of a woman sitting in a car. She turned to her right and smiled, then drove off. She had the most beautiful eyes and smile! When they run this piece on TCM now, that scene is now gone. I would really like to see the film that actress was in.

I just cried just now wow! I knew he died then but missed this amazing little tribute TCM does these I know. Always a master of fantastic creatures and manipulating them with his hands. He is in our hearts and no one else can touch what he did. The industry ignored for him years. Till he finally got his Oscar and Star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. They didn't know how to classify his films. So far ahead bad ass, totally ground-breaking. He taught us all it was ok to grow old but never up and love these kinds of films forever! I am never ashamed, I tell everyone mostly I meet I converse with about Ray. We all miss Ray but he left a powerful impenetrable legacy and legends never die Ray Harryhausen always a God to us thanks for sharing this!

This and the Dirty Dozen on Ice promos. There is another that I can not find on UA-cam. TCM had this singing cowboy, tin/puppet animation intro to Saturday morning westerns or something. The sing cowboy is riding, singing in the desert with the moon, then everything slows down, rider and horse fall asleep. Cant find it.

This one is my 2nd fav..not to say I'm glad to see anyone die.. but to see the tribute to a wonderful cast of great actors and others but when peter Falk said "As you wish"..and then at the end as the music slowly stops and you hear the rain and they show the "CAT"Ms. Elizabeth three different movies and when she is walking away in the rain "AHHHHHH"😭😭😭😭😭😭😭..it hurts something awful..because you start remembering your own love ones you have lost😪..great job..but my #1fave was 2016 with laren Bacall when humbert bogart says"I'll be waitin for you" ...and when shirley temple sings at the I was done.

By one scene that's your opinion on making it your favorite but if you're going by overall then 2020 and 2018 were the best tributes made in the Remembers videos by TCM. The one with Lauren Bacall was 2014 and I would rank #3 and it had the best song in it than any TCM Remembers and the ending with Shirley Temple was perfect. What 2011 lacks is the memorable quotes. I would still put it in the top 10 though, possibly #6 best overall.

2012 was the best year of my life. I started the year with my first ever real girlfriend and ended the year with my second ever real girlfriend who became my wife in 2015. Its great to remember 2012 and its important to remember who passed away that year. I am not a celebrity or film maker, I am a nobody but I think 2023 is the year that I pass away too. I will miss my wife.
